We get this question all the time: “When is the right time to take our engagement photos?”
And the answer is WHENEVER YOU WANT! …But do it with your wedding photographer. Even if you have already done an engagement session with another photographer - or a family member or friend - it’s a very valuable chance to learn how we work together as a team and to get more comfortable in front of our cameras. This is why EVERY single engagement session will be done with one of our Lead Photographers - either Luis or I - with EVERY single couple.
During your engagement session, you’ll have the chance to get to know us, experience how we shoot and how we handle posing and lighting - especially for our epic sunset or night photos. This session will make a HUGE impact on how the wedding day flows. We’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how you two interact, what your best poses are and how to photograph you in a genuine way! What we will learn about you during your engagement session is truly invaluable. You will feel like such a pro on your big day because of the great practice you had with us during your engagement session!
Because our weekends are filled with weddings, we LOVE to shoot engagement sessions on weekday evenings, normally starting between 5-7pm depending on the light and the time of the year. We offer our standard session, including 1 hour of photo time - OR an extended session including up to 2.5 hours.
As you start to plan for your engagement shoot, you will need to start brainstorming about location ideas. We LOVE it when couples pick a location that is special or sentimental to them in some way! If you can’t think of anywhere specific that you would like to shoot, I can also help you decide on a location. Because we carry our own lights with us, we can make any location look truly amazing. Feel free to scroll through our Instagram for some ideas! We have shot at parks, beaches, downtown areas, bars and even an automobile repair shop! Do not shy away from unique ideas. The more creative, the better.
